Wellspring Learning Collaborative

Wellspring Learning Collaborative is a home-based, grassroots education venture that seeks to give homeschooling, unschooling, and school-free families a local resource for educational support through classes, tutoring, and student-care programs.  We are opening in Spring 2020 with online classes, and will begin offering in-person services through Summer 2020.

Our Fall schedule of services are TBA.

Our Philosophy

Families who choose homeschooling, unschooling, or school-free educational paths are typically looking for a better, healthier, and more natural way to learn about life.  At Wellspring, we believe every child should be free to learn in a way that fits their personality, talents, preferences, and individual learning styles.  Our classes, tutoring sessions, and student-care programs incorporate aspects of many popular child-led educational programs including Montessori, Waldorf, Reggio, and Sudbury, as well as aspects from Classical and Charlotte Mason methods.

It may sound a bit confusing and contradictory, but we believe that each of the aforementioned educational styles offer values and methods that facilitate and enrich a child's educational journey.  To learn more, contact us!

About Us

With more than 18 years of teaching experience in both public and private schools, Andrea Martin holds the position of Directress at Wellspring. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education, a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership, and state teaching certifications for grades K-5 (general education) and K-12 (special education).  In addition, Andrea has completed the 30-hour Orton-Gillingham initial training course through the IMSE.

However, Andrea's greatest experiences in education have come from being a homeschooling parent.  Alongside her husband, Andrea has discovered the beauty of child-led learning and the joys and opportunites of being a homeschooling family.

It has not come without challenges, though, and the biggest challenge Andrea faced was balancing homeschooling with a work schedule.  Finding supportive care-givers for her "school-age" children was difficult and in realizing she wasn't the only homeschooling parent facing this challenge, the idea for Wellspring Learning Collaborative and our Student Care Program was born.
